Soaring Oaks is blessed to offer a number of ways for folks to learn, grow and connect with God’s people. These include monthly fellowships and weekly bible studies. Our hope and prayer is that our Lord will use these groups to deepen our walk with Him, grow our love for each other and equip us to promote the gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in our community.
Please feel free to drop and email to the group leader to ask for more information about a specific group.
SOS (Soaring Oaks Seniors) Our SOS groups meets every Tuesday morning at 9:30 am at the church. We’re currently studying the glory of Christ in the book of Colossians. We begin with a few well known hymns, a time of prayer and then our study. This group is open to all seniors 55 and over. If you have any questions please contact Merlene Tarver at
Weekly Bible Study. Our weekly bible study is held each Wednesday evening from 7:00 until 8:30 pm. The study is open to everyone and childcare is available by request. Presently we’re finishing a study on spiritual maturity called Vital Spiritual Health. Our study involves discussion as well as an in depth look into various passages of Scripture. Each study we ask the Lord to speak to us from His word with respect to our motivation to worship Him, our desire to have a diligent walk of obedience before Him and our calling to witness of the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. Please contact Pastor Lance at
SOPC Shepherding Groups. Our shepherding groups meet monthly for a time of discussion concerning our walk with the Lord, an opportunity to share issues of praise, prayer and struggle with each other and a time of focused prayer. The groups are led by Pastor Lance or one of our elders and our hope is that God will use them as point of connection and true fellowship among our members and regular attenders. The groups are steadily working their way through the book ‘How People Change’ by Tim Lane and Paul David Tripp. For now we have three groups which meet at various times of the month. Due to the nature of these groups they’re only open to members and those who regularly attend SOPC. Please contact Pastor Lance at
SOPC Men’s Fellowship – Each second Saturday of the month the brothers of SOPC gather around a light breakfast for a time of fellowship around God’s word. We begin with an uplifting song and allow space for those who have a challenge, praise or issue they’d like to share. From there we enjoy a fruitful study and discussion on a passage of Scripture. Since late last year we’ve been engaged with the book of Colossians and have been blessed by the insights God has for us in this important letter to His church. Each month one of the brothers takes the time to lead us through a passage of the book. Please contact Paul Bedore at
YMDG –The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction Proverbs 1:7 (ESV). YMDG meets on the third Friday of the month from 6:30 until 9:30 pm. This is the theme of our Young Men’s Discipleship Group. The aim of this ministry is to provide biblical instruction and example to our young men in the areas of Scripture knowledge, character development and life skills. Our hope is to augment the discipleship process that already exists within their families and in time Lord willing to connect with those young men who may have little or no biblical discipleship influence.
The ministry features teaching and discussion on biblical topics, introductions to various career paths in connection with God’s command to pursue meaningful work that contributes to the overall well-being of the family, community and society along with fun and instructional field trips. Each meeting begins with a pizza dinner and includes a couple of fun games. YMDG is open to young men ages 10 to 17. Please contact Larry Larsen at
Morning Prayer Group –And he told them a parable to the effect that they ought always to pray and not lose heart Luke 18:1 (ESV). Each third Saturday of the month we gather for a time of prayer to lift up our requests to our Lord. We believe God answers prayer and graciously invites His people to bring all of our needs and issues to Him. Our time of prayer opens with a reading of Scripture, sharing a few requests and then going before our good and gracious Lord. Please join us from 9:00 until 10:00 am to apply our Lord’s command to always pray and never give up. For more information please contact Carlo Rose at
Movie with a Purpose – Looking for a fun yet fruitful night to spend with the saints? Each fourth Friday we enjoy a movie followed by a discussion of its themes. Everyone’s invited and there’s also a movie for young children. The evening begins at 7:00 pm and please feel free to bring a snack. For more information contact Will Carr at
